SoulTech Magazine by conscious living author and teacher Shaman Isis

Spirituality: It's not about being nice

Spirituality, at its essence, transcends the superficial dictates of social niceties, delving into the profound depths of human consciousness and existential inquiry. It beckons individuals to embark on a journey of inner exploration, where authenticity reigns supreme over the facade of niceness, and where the complexities of human emotion are honored with unwavering reverence. True spiritual growth entails embracing the full spectrum of the human experience, navigating through moments of discomfort, uncertainty, and even discord, with grace, humility, and an unwavering commitment to self-discovery and self-transcendence.

In the tapestry of spiritual awakening, the threads of authenticity and integrity weave a narrative far richer than the mere semblance of niceness could ever portray. It is through the courage to confront inner shadows, the willingness to question entrenched beliefs, and the embrace of both light and darkness that true spiritual depth is cultivated. Thus, spirituality beckons not to the superficial, but to the profound, inviting individuals to journey inward, where the soul's true essence unfolds amidst the complexities of human existence, transcending the limitations of societal expectations to embrace the boundless expanses of human potential. treasures, celebrating nature's ingenuity in the face of adversity.

We sat down with SoulTech mystic, best-selling author and all-around badass Shaman Isis to discuss her wild journey to self-love, the buzz (gossip!) about her best-selling new book Memory Mansion, citizen journalism, shamanism, and her mission to raise human consciousness.

Thank you for sitting down with us. There has been a lot of gossip about you and the book since Memory Mansion became a best-seller. How are you handling the success? Gossip?

It has been amazing—so much support from my soul family. I am incredibly blessed. The most important thing is the message of raising consciousness as the answer to the mental health crisis is getting out into the world. The rumors and gossip have made me laugh a lot. As someone who has always been unconventional and worked in fashion and entertainment, being talked about is normal. If that furthers the healing message, then I am fine with that.

The book is a memoir, yet some reviews have categorized it as fiction or called it hard to believe. What do you make of those responses?

That has been one of the funniest outcomes of the book. I wrote it in a stream of consciousness from clear memories stored in the memory mansion in my mind. If my recall was blurry, I left it out of the book. Being brutally honest was important to me. I knew it was a crazy story, so I was not surprised that some people thought it was fiction. There are reasons for my years of secrecy.

As an author and communicator, I laugh when people ask me if it is a true story. As a marketing pioneer, tying a story in a pretty bow is my forte. I chose to be exacting in sharing from my mansion, as being honest was an important part of my healing journey. I have been keeping secrets for decades and our secrets keep us sick. The most beautiful destination in the self-love journey is when you stop giving a fuck about what others think of your truth.

If I have learned anything in my crazy life, it is that the truth is often bizarre and doesn’t fit together like a slick Disney film. The reader can draw whatever conclusions they need.

You have one of the most incredible life stories we have ever heard. What are some of your favorite memories?

I have incredible memories of free-running the streets of Memphis while living at Saint Peter’s Orphanage. As a child, I learned about healing energy from nuns and mystics.

I trotted the world in a couture wardrobe, styled astronauts, icons, and Oscar winners for the red carpet, and worked with Anna Wintour, Azzedine Alaia, and Fern Mallis on powerhouse global events. Hell, I even met Elvis twice.

The complex trauma I experienced was balanced by a lifetime of incredible experiences that always made me a bit of a Cinderella, especially given my birth name is Cynthia.

How did your spiritual avatar and pen name, Shaman Isis, come about?

To be frank, I came kicking and screaming to the role. I was called to shamanism as a child and was not happy about it. I thought of it as being a preacher.

I had many near-death experiences, could see healing energy, talked to spirits, was a truth seer, and had powerful prophetic visions and telepathic experiences. Things I write about in Memory Mansion.

As an orphan and foster kid in the 70s and 80s, I worried about being judged by others. Judgment of your circumstances was brutal back then. I did not know my ethnicity until a few years ago, so I masked for decades and buried the calling to shamanism.

When I finally stepped into my purpose, my guides returned and told me it was time for healers to lead. They noted that many more were needed as we entered the Age of Aquarius and AI.

It was not an easy decision to come out as Shaman Isis. You should have heard me arguing with my guides over the whole Isis thing. I had visions of Egypt my whole life, but her historical name now creates challenges I constantly face. Generative AI is erasing her history because of what some men have done in recent years. I have a love hate relationship with AI.

Anyway, I was told that was the point, to reclaim her name as a goddess and healer. I am glad we are getting to a place where we are no longer allowing old film depictions of shamans, witches, and intuitives to dictate how sensitives are treated.

Western medicine has done enough damage. It is time for holistic medicine and high vibrational human consciousness to lead the way.

How did you learn about spiritual practices?

When I was young, I learned about healing energy from Sister Ann Elizabeth. She cared for the dying babies at Saint Peter’s. Watching her and working with her brought about a lot of lessons.

I learned a great deal from my long-time foster mother. While she was not without her “Carrie” moments, she was also a healer. Living with her for years taught me a great deal about spirituality. She is a serious spiritual writer, teacher, and scholar. Sensitives also run in my family.

I also learned a lot from a witch and shaman who appeared in my apartment complex as a teen. She mysteriously disappeared one day after many long conversations. She taught me about herbs and food. As a lifetime seeker, I have had many wonderful gurus. In recent years, I have been gifted with angels, mentors, and "fairy godmothers" who stepped up to provide guidance.

Your beautiful content and speeches touch on raising human consciousness as the answer to the mental health crisis. Can you explain?

I have found that shadow work, mainly using triggers for growth, teaches people to practice healthier thought habits. Healthy thought habits raise their vibration and frequency, moving their experience up Hawkins' consciousness scale. It is a method for teaching people how to choose their perception and command their energy.

Through this method, I have seen powerful transformations in people struggling with mental health challenges like depression and anxiety. Our thought habits create our life experiences. I call that cycle the Reality Wheel.

Teaching people how to raise their consciousness by commanding their subconscious thoughts is putting their hands on the wheel of reality. This is the answer to the mental health crisis.

You host a popular new podcast called Citizen Journalist. What are your thoughts on the state of media and politics?

America is going through a dramatic change. I just discussed this very topic on Citizen Journalist episode 4 with Pulitzer-nominated journalist Rose Horowitz.

Mass media as we know it is collapsing, and the age of the creator and citizen journalism is upon us. We know that we cannot count on institutions that depend on corporate dollars to be transparent. That, the closure, and shocking corporate greed have primed us for much-needed change.

Food and housing costs are causing an awakening that we need, and perhaps it is the pendulum effect history is famous for.

It's a perfect storm for something surprising, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. winning the presidential election.

What's next for Shaman Isis?

I am just getting started! I love being busy. In addition to teaching people how to glow the fu%k up I have my sustainable fashion line, Intention. My multimedia company, Gothic House Media, handles books, podcasts, talks, events, and speaking tours for ShamanIsis.com and other creators.

Most recently, my conscious lifestyle and events brand SoulTech.World is launching a magazine, SoulTech Magazine, and an event series called SoulTech’s Soundbites 2 Solutions.

Our first event in the series is a screening of the FairSay Films short film “Displaced” alongside a panel discussion at an event in NYC in April. We aim to take the topic of immigration from soundbites to solutions.

What are some final words for our readers?

Lead with love, stop waiting for permission, and glow so big and bright that people ready for your wattage will be inspired to go for their wildest dreams.
